Along the Trans-Canada Hwy section of the Sunrise Trail in Pictou County, adjacent to and a little south of the city of New Glasgow, you will find the town of Stellarton. With a population of about 5,000, Stellarton is home to Atlantic Canada’s oldest museum, the Nova Scotia Museum of Industry. Here you and your family can inspect among the many displays Samson, the oldest railway locomotive in Canada built in 1838 and which carried coal from the mines around Stellarton to waiting ships in the East River until retirement in 1885.
